Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration Kipchumba Murkomen has affirmed the National Government's commitment to boosting infrastructure and public services across Baringo County through an expanded rollout of key development initiatives.

Speaking as the Chief Guest during an interdenominational church service and fundraising event at Visa Oshwal Primary School in Kabarnet, CS Murkomen outlined an array of transformative state projects currently underway in the county. These include the construction of a public university, a modern sports stadium, a new market, and an extensive expansion of local road networks.

Murkomen also underscored major progress under the Affordable Housing Programme, pointing to ongoing developments such as National Housing Corporation (NHC) housing units and student hostels for Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) facilities.The Interior CS emphasized that sustainable development in Baringo hinges on regional stability. While praising the local community for demonstrating political maturity and fostering peace, he announced that government operations to recover illegal firearms in affected regions will be intensified.

Additionally, Murkomen instructed local law enforcement to clamp down decisively on the illicit alcohol trade in Kabarnet town and across Baringo County.

Baringo Governor Benjamin Cheboi expressed gratitude to CS Murkomen and security agencies for the relative peace restored in regions previously troubled by banditry.

Highlighting upcoming voter registration preparations by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Governor Cheboi urged residents without national identification cards to apply for them immediately so they can exercise their democratic rights in future elections.
