More than 12,000 youth and residents have acquired digital skills through the Baringo World Best Friend ICT Centre since its establishment, underscoring the institution's growing contribution to digital literacy, youth empowerment, and the county's digital transformation agenda.

The milestone was highlighted as the ICT Centre, a partnership between the County Government of Baringo and World Best Friend of South Korea, graduated 143 trainees during the closure of its April 2026 intake. The eight-week programme, which began on 7 April 2026, equipped participants with practical skills in computer basics, computer maintenance, and advanced ICT applications.

Speaking during the graduation ceremony, Director for ICT Mr. Gedion Tirok challenged the graduates to build on the knowledge and competencies they had acquired by embracing technology as a pathway to economic empowerment. He noted that the rapidly expanding digital economy presents immense opportunities for innovation, entrepreneurship, and self-employment.

Mr. Tirok further encouraged the graduates to utilize the Youth Empowerment Centres established across Baringo's sub-counties, saying the facilities provide access to digital tools and workspaces that support content creation, digital innovation, online freelancing, and other technology-driven ventures capable of generating sustainable incomes.

The Baringo World Best Friend ICT Centre continues to play a pivotal role in equipping young people with market-relevant digital skills, strengthening the county's efforts to bridge the digital divide while preparing its workforce for opportunities in the modern digital economy.
