Educational institutions in Baringo have been introduced to Geo-education, the learning of how the earths physical systems interact with humans. A total of 40 pupils and 10 teachers from Sogom, Manach, Visa Oshwal, Kapkun, and Riwo primary schools participated in the training which took place at the National Museums of Kenya grounds at Kabarnet. The programme is being undertaken by Baringo County Government, Baringo County Conservancy Association and the State Department for Mining.

Ms. Grace Wambui,a Senior Superintending Geologist at the Ministry of Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs says the four day exercise is field-based and it is designed to stimulate interest on geoheritage and conservation of environment including rocks and fossils in Baringo. She asked teachers to incorporate geoeducation in their teaching and learning activities especially on how geology influences land uses such as farming and settlement.
