Roads and Infrastructure - Improving Access, Business
The focus on road infrastructure development as a foundation for economic growth is to deliver quality works, equitably and efficiently. We have enhanced investment in road infrastructure, out of the critical awareness that it is an enabling factor of economic growth that is pivotal especially in the realization of our development goals as outlined in Baringo County’s CIDP-2022-2027. Success in tourism, trade, labour mobilization, industrialization, mineral and energy exploitation, agricultural and other production activities ride on this factor. It is therefore well advised and central for us to direct our focus towards the development of this critical sector.
The third administration pledges to resume the improvement of urban infrastructure by upgrading town roads to bitumen standards. The annual programme of tarmacking roads in Kabarnet, Marigat, Eldama Ravine, Mogotio, Kabartonjo and Chemolingot towns, is being rolled out, will be sustained and possibly extended to growing urban centers within our County.
To achieve targets in improving rural roads to all weather standards, the department will make use of already acquired machinery, complemented by contractual works as may be practical and efficient. The main focus in this regard is to open access to agricultural areas and institutions such as cooperative societies, social amenities as well as facilities that give own source revenue to the County such as tourist destinations, quarries and rivers.
Through partnership with corresponding government agencies and units including KERRA, Kenya Defense Forces (KDF), National Youth Service and KENHA, we have prioritized sustained improvement of security roads as one of the contributions of the County Government in implementing solutions towards peace and tranquility in the region.
In conjunction with complementing County Departments, we are also committed to discharging the mandate of ensuring any infrastructure development established within our County is of sound quality and adhere to laws as set out in our respective development blueprints.
