Goat farmers in Baringo have kicked off the New Year on a high note following payment for their livestock supplied to the Kimalel Goat Auction 2025.

A total of 1,088 farmers who delivered between one and 15 goats during the auction held on 22 December 2025 have been fully paid a combined KSh 74,802,000, Governor Benja,in Cheboi has confirmed. The payments account for 94.7% of all goat deliveries recorded at the event, underscoring the auctions impact on improving household incomes among pastoral communities.

In a post made made on his official social media accounts yesterday, Governor Cheboi noted that payments to the remaining farmers will be effected once the ongoing verification exercise is completed, with assurances that updates will be communicated in due course. A comprehensive report on the auction has been published on the County website.

The Kimalel Goat Auction revived by the County Government in 2013 continues to be a key economic empowerment initiative for livestock farmers in the region, as well as an occasion to position Baringo as tourist and investment destination. The event is largely known for putting money directly into the hands of farmers and strengthening Baringos position as a hub for quality livestock.

On behalf of the County Government, the Governor expresses appreciation to President William Ruto for gracing the auction, as well as leaders and guests who supported the initiative through the purchase of goats. Appreciation was also extended to development partners and the residents of Baringo County for their role in ensuring the success of the auction.
