Baringo County, which aspires to become aUNESCO recognized Geopark under the initiative The Baringo Great Rift Valley(BGRV) Geopark, is participating at the 30th of African Geology 2025 which isunderway in Nairobi. (September 23-27, 2025, Safari Park Hotel). Delegates atthe conference will undertake 11 post-conference field trips to places ofgeological interests across Kenya. Baringo will be privileged to host a 5-dayfield trip under the banner Geoheritage Exploration of the Baringo Great Rift ValleyAspiring Geopark (GE07). https://cag30nbi.org/field-trips/.
Among the places identified for thegeo-heritage exploring are Lake Bogoria, Kiplombe, Managar and CommunityConservancies, Kapcheptoo view-point and Paka Hills.
Baringos bid for a UNESCO Global Geopark, is inspiredby the exceptional and significant geological resources it holds. They includenatural sites, geological sites, paleontological/archeological and culturalsites it holds. A technical team working towards Baringo becoming the firstKenyan Geopark has developed a roadmap towards the achievement of thisremarkable initiative.
The theme of the 30th Colloquium of AfricanGeology #CAG30 is Unveiling Africas Geological Resources: Forging a Path forSustainable Development. The event provides a platform for geoscientists,policymakers, and industry leaders to engage on Africas geological future.
