MISSION

To coordinate and manage gender, youth and social services activities, so as to improve livelihoods of Baringo county residents

MANDATE

• Develop appropriate County Department policies, legal and institutional frame works for implementation of the mandate of the department.

• Management, planning, coordination and administration of youth, gender and social services in the county.

• Integrate youth and Gender issues in programs, capacity building of communities to participate in development projects, and involve women and vulnerable groups in activities that promote their welfare;

• Coordinate and monitor the thirty percent (30%) affirmative action on gender representation and in socio economic development;

• Coordinate and Monitor the promotion of awareness on harmful cultural practices such as female genital mutilation (FGM) and gender based violence (GBV) ;

• Promote community participation and inter-county gender and youth related activities.

• Interpret and implement the departmental strategic plan and medium-term plan.

• Promote research on gender, youth and social development.

• Oversee establishment, management and operationalization of Youth empowerment centres and promotion of Youth Enterprises.

• Oversee preparation of annual work plans and financial budgets to ensure proper utilization of Resources.

• Liaising with relevant stakeholders to develop and review policies, strategies, guidelines, standards and regulations on project management.

• Establishing networks and linkages with the relevant stakeholders by promoting public-private partnership on assigned programmes or projects on alternative financial support.
