World Best Friend, Korean based NGO has announced the introduction of Korean language in the curriculum of Elias ICT Centre-Kabarnet to be introduced from August 2018 which will be decentralized to the schools that have benefited from the computer donation once the ICT teachers have been trained.

The pilot schools earmarked to benefit from Korean language training are Moi High school-Kabartonjo, Marigat Boys, Chemolingot High, Mogotio Girls and Kabimoi Boys thereafter they will upgrade to academic and research exchange program between the two countries.

Elias ICT Centre with support from World Best Friends continues to train youth, teachers, government employees and the general public. So far 3,770 have been trained, 119 secondary schools donated with computers and conducted four annual ICT contests.

In September 2018, the NGO will conduct a mega ICT contest. These contests will be carried out in September every year. In order to motivate teachers who integrate and promote ICT in their learning institutions, World Best Friend will support him/her to acquire further ICT training in Korea.


Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) in its outreach services conduct an annual Consumer ICT forums dubbed 'Kikao Kikuu' in Counties which seeks create awareness and provide a platform for interaction between the authority and its publics as well as country's ICT service providers.

This year Baringo County is hosting the four day event starting tomorrow at 10am at Kenya School of Government, Kabarnet Campus.

The Government of Kenya, in partnership with the World Bank, is implementing the Kenya Youth Employment and Opportunities Project (KYEOP) 2016 – 2021. The project development objective of KYEOP is to increase employment and earning opportunities among targeted young people across Kenya. The project aims to reach over 280,000 youth during the project period.
The main beneficiaries of the proposed project will be youth between 18-29 years of age (with some component extending up to 35years) who are jobless and have experienced extended spells of unemployment or who are currently working in vulnerable jobs. The level of education of targeted beneficiaries will be up to Form 4. The project will reach youth within selected counties in urban and rural areas.

The Ministry of Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs (MPYG), through the Directorate of Youth Affairs (DYA) under the State Department of Public Service and Youth is the coordinating agency for the project.

The project has four distinct components, which are inter-linked and aim to reach youth directly and indirectly.

Component 1: Improving youth employability;

This addresses the skills mismatch of youth by engaging training providers and private sector employers in offering training and work experience to targeted youth. It responds to Kenyan employers who assert that youth who come out of schools and training centers frequently lack the relevant work experience and competencies needed for employment. The component will be jointly implemented by the Ministry of Public Service, Youth and Gender (MPYG) and National Industrial Training Authority (NITA).

Component 2: Support for job creation;

This Component responds to the need for job creation with initiatives to help launch new businesses, improve the productivity and job creation potential of existing micro-enterprises and among self-employed youth, and support innovative approaches to improving job and earning opportunities among the hard-to-reach youth. It will address key constraints and market failures that limit the demand for youth employment and their productivity once in employment. The component will be jointly implemented by the MPYG and Micro and Small Enterprise Authority (MSEA).

Component 3: Labour Market Information System (LMIS)

The component responds to the problem of obtaining timely information about labour demand and supply, as well as career prospects in Kenya. It plans to improve access to and the quality of labour market information for skills matching. Labour market information (LMI) helps stakeholders / actors in the labour market to make decisions and formulate policies. This component will provide support to strengthen Kenya’s Labour Market Information System (LMIS).

Component 4:  Strengthening youth policy development and project management

This component provides support for strengthening youth policy development, monitoring and evaluation, and management of the project. This component will support capacity building for the MPYG, management and coordination of the overall project.
The overall implementation, coordination and progress reporting of the activities under this component is assigned to a project coordination unit (PCU) established within the Directorate of Youth Affairs.
