This Directorate of Crop Production promotes sustainable crop production as an integral part to increasing productivity, achieving food security and supporting the livelihoods of farmers. It is tasked with the provision of agricultural extension and other support services as well as subsidized farm inputs to enhance the capacity of farmers to engage in sustainable practices and adopt new technologies.
The directorate also spearheads the establishment of value chain development infrastructure as well as market linkages for viable cash crops like Coffee. It regularly documents interventions and evaluates the impact of crop production programs to ensure effectiveness, to identify challenges, and to make informed policy or operational adjustments.
