The process of implementing Shs 122 million worth of oxygen projects in Baringo County health facilities are at various stages of execution. The central nature of the projects is underscored by the fact that oxygen is classified as a drug when used for medical purposes, because it is prescribed, administered in specific doses, and has therapeutic effects, just like any other medication.
The installation of two 200l/Min capacity Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) Oxygen plants in Kabartonjo and Chemolingot Sub County Hospitals at a cost of Shs 60 million is at completion stages, while oxygen piping in Baringo County Referral Hospital, Eldama Ravine and Mogotio Sub County Hospitals, and the supply of 310 oxygen cylinders, splitters and Manifolds is complete.
The significant investment is one among the many fruits of partnerships, which have been spearheaded by H.E Governor Benjamin Cheboi across the devolved sectors in Baringo.
This oxygen project will enhance the ability of the beneficiary facilities to provide high-quality, reliable, and timely medical care, improving overall patient outcomes and operational efficiency. Cheboi said, adding that the County is making good steps in enhancing service delivery within its healthcare system.
The Oxygen project scheduled for completion by December 2024 is funded by the Global Fund and is being executed in partnership between the County Government of Baringo, the Ministry of Health, with Amref as the implementing partner.
